The Tex Concept displays Giugiaro’s angle of view on the Volkswagen’s coupe of the near future. According to the designers, there was no task to make something futuristic – they’ve got to create a car which would be appreciated by the customers even today. The Tex is a compact coupe, quite low (1355 mm), wide (1755 mm), and 19-inch wheeled. The design is interpreted by the creators themselves as “aggressive but accurate”.

As an innovative feature we can consider the rear lights hidden behind glass and invisible while turned off. The windscreen is sliding into a glass roof – Giugiaro’s pet trick. The interior is built for and around the driver – it gravitates towards the classic sports theme.

The Tex uses a hybrid power plant: turbocharged ICE with 1.4 l coupled with an electric motor produces 116 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The car is FWD, with the 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox switched on the steering wheel. 6 seconds is needed to reach a hundred, and the top speed goes up to 220 km/h. On the electric mode it is able to travel for 35 km.
