“Just like fine luxury goods, this design feels handcrafted and durable enough to stand the test of time,” this is how Peter Horbury, Vice President of Design at Volvo Car Corporation, presents the latest work from his team.
Among other definitions the concept was given in the press release there is no less confidence: “a masterpiece of Scandinavian Design for car buyers with exquisite taste.”
Well, let’s have a close look at the concept. Unlike the brand’s previous models, overdetailed and gravitating towards the “emotional-dynamic” mainstream, the Concept Universe is admittedly plain and minimalistic, which is embodied by its front, while the dynamic tail creates an interesting contrast. In fact, the Universe only looks simple at first sight, after which you start to see the complex surfacing and unusual decisions in the shaping.
The interior is designed on the same principles: simple lines adjoined with unusual luxury upholstery. The steering wheel and the gear stick are decorated with paintings, and the rear seats slidе into the door panels.
According to Volvo’s management, the concept previews the brand’s new flagship style and showcases its future intentions. The Swede’s must be sure of their standing to create a brand which would precisely meet the needs of a modern luxury car buyer.
